Sharing Life in Christ
Introduction to the Affirmation of Faith ("Faith"
by Ann Weems p 55 Searching for Shalom)
Affirmation of Faith
We believe in God's love manifest to us in the Triune God;
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in God's love given to us in the Father, full of
mercy, grace, wisdom, power and love.
We believe in God's love given to us as Savior of the world
in Jesus, the Christ, who we also experience as friend, brother
and companion.
We believe in God's love given to us in spiritual wisdom and
power through the Holy Spirit who we also experience as love,
light, and counselor.
We believe in a loving God who calls us from complacency to
risk ourselves in lives of love and service to others.
We believe in God who loves us so much we are allowed to make
mistakes and fail, we are repeatedly forgiven and given new beginnings
every day, every moment, if we need them.
We believe God's love empowers us to be more loving, to give
more of ourselves and our resources, to enjoy life to its fullest.
Amen.

Prayers of the People
Lord's Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.
Prayer Response Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus UMH 349
Turn Your eyes upon Jesus,
look full in his wonderful face,
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim
in the light of his glory and grace.

*Prayer of Thanksgiving
God of Grace, God of Love, you have given your very self to
us in Jesus, the Christ and in the Spirit who dwells with us
always. Your abundant nature is available for us to see everywhere.
Forgive us that we sometimes forget how bountiful your love and
grace is. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear. Help us to have
hands that help and heal that love and protect. Grant us hearts
that love without reason and without fear because you have loved
us. Thank you for your many gifts and graces. Bless and use these
gifts to grow your kingdom on the earth. Amen.

Romans 8:22-27
John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15
Passages for Lectio Divina:
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where
moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and
rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew
6:19-21 TNIV
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will
wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more
important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do
not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly
Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:25-26
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers
of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you
that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one
of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field,
which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will
he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? So do not worry,
saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What
shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and
your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first
his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will
be given to you as well. Matthew 6:28-33
