*Invocation An Invitation to the Holy Spirit (UMH 335)
O God, the Holy Spirit, come to us, and among us;
come as the wind, and cleanse us; come as the fire, and burn;
come as the dew, and refresh;
convict, convert, and consecrate many hearts and lives to our
great good
and to thy greater glory; and this we ask for Jesus Christ's
sake. Amen.

Prayer Response Sweet, Sweet Spirit UMH 334
There's a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
and I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord;
there are sweet expressions on each face,
and I know they feel the presence of the Lord.
Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet heavenly Dove,
stay right here with us, filling us with your love;
and for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
without a doubt we'll know that we have been revived
when we shall leave this place.

*Prayer of Thanksgiving
O God it is by your righteousness that we are made righteous,
it is by your holiness that we can be holy. It is only as we
become one with you that our thinking and our lives become like
Jesus' life. Thank you that you make that possible for us by
the power of your word and Holy Spirit. We ask now that you bless
these gifts and offerings which we return to you that they may
be a blessing in the world. We pray Lord that they may be used
not just to keep the doors of the church open, but to feed the
hungry, to clothe the naked and to fulfill your commission to
go into all the world. Amen. .

Lord's Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.

Passages for Lectio Divina:
When the Counselor comes, whom I willl send to you from the
Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he
will testify about me. And you also must testify. . .Jesus in
John 15:26-27a
Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what
is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it
with patience. Romans 8:24-25 NRSV
Likewise the Spirit help us in our weakness; for we do not
know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes
with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart,
knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes
for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:27-28
