*Call to Worship (Maren C. Tirabassi in Touch Holiness p.
94)
L: You were not made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath was
made for you.
P: We choose to gather on this Sabbath to worship, to pray,
and to share with one another.
L: Jesus asked, Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or
to harm, to save life or to kill?"
P: We choose compassion and justice and healing. In this Sabbath
time together we choose life.

Sharing Life in Christ
Prayer of Confession (Allen P. Happe in Touch Holiness p.
109)
O Thou, whose very name is Love, we mean to do well, but our
intentions are soon discarded. We try to be faithful, but we
are diverted by so many things. We do not wish to harm anyone,
but, for lack of consideration, we sometimes hurt those we love
the most. We sympathize for those who suffer more often than
we act with them. We refuse to accept the help of others because
we are unwilling to admit our needs. We, too, can say with the
man who came to you, "Lord Jesus, I am not worthy that you
should enter my house; only say the word and I shall be healed!"
Silent, personal confession
Words of affirmation and comfort
L: This is the message we have heard from God and proclaim
to you, that God is light and in God there is no darkness at
all. If we walk in the light, as God is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus the Son cleanses
us from all sin. In the name of Jesus Christ your sins are forgiven
P: In the name of Jesus Christ your sins are forgiven
All: Thanks be to God. Amen.

Prayers of the People
Prayer Response Sweet, Sweet Spirit UMH 334
There's a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
and I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord;
there are sweet expressions on each face,
and I know they feel the presence of the Lord.
Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet heavenly Dove,
stay right here with us, filling us with your love;
and for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
without a doubt we'll know that we have been revived
when we shall leave this place.

Lord's Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.
